Dakota Radford was hooded at UC's Northern Campus' Clinical Psychology Dept. Ceremony

University of the Cumberlands (UC) held its inaugural hooding ceremony for the Northern Campus' Clinical Psychology department's class of 2015 in Florence, Kentucky at Vineyard Christian Church.

Fourteen students will receive a masters of arts in Clinical Psychology and are scheduled to graduate this year upon completion of final coursework. Two students will receive a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology and are scheduled to graduate contingent upon successful completion of the dissertation.

The Clinical Psychology's Master of Arts Hooding Ceremony hooded 14 candidates. The candidates included:

Cierra Jordan Barker (Walton, Kentucky), Brandon Kyle Bumbalough (Florence, Kentucky), Felicia Ann Buttery (Covington, Kentucky), John Lee Cecil (Lexington, Kentucky), Brandy Michelle Griffin (Lexington, Kentucky), Martika Chanel Jones (Covington, Kentucky), Ashley Ciera Neace-Patrick (Florence, Kentucky), Dakota Kerri Radford (Somerset, Kentucky), Kallye Joanah Renner (Florence, Kentucky), Victorya Lynn Reynolds (Cincinnati, Ohio), Setera Ashleigh Sears (Corbin, Kentucky), Christopher Coty Watters (Stearns, Kentucky), LaTonya Jeannette Whipple (Cincinnati, Ohio), and Paula JeNell Winchester (Corbin, Kentucky).

The two Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology candidates included:

Tessie Rice Haney (Dallas, Texas) and Sandra Joan Nantz (Woodbine, Kentucky).

"Through their determination and hard work, our students have persevered through their coursework and practice to meet the requirements of the Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology or the requirements for the Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology," said Dr. Tammy Hatfield, UC's Clinical Psychology department's Program Director and Professor of Clinical Psychology. "I hold our graduates responsible for utilizing the knowledge and skills they have developed to contribute to making our communities and world a better place to live and to fostering well-being in all whom they serve."

The mission and focus of the Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology program is to train graduates for the general, integrative practice of clinical psychology with diverse populations, especially those that are traditionally underserved. The program also seeks to prepare students from underserved groups to become psychologists who reinvest by serving as clinical leaders in their local communities.

University of the Cumberlands' commitment to service is the foundation from which the Ph.D. program is built. The Practitioner-Scholar Model of training is offered in a blended, distributed format. UC seeks to prepare graduates who are competent in linking science with ethical practice and in serving their local communities as leaders.
