Dixie Ross inducted into Sigma Tau Delta

University of the Cumberlands (UC) recently held Sigma Tau Delta's induction and awards ceremony. Sigma Tau Delta is UC's English Honor Society for English majors and minors.

In order to be an inducted member, students need to be an English major or minor, have completed six hours of coursework beyond English 131 & 132 and have attained a cumulative 3.0 grade point average in their English and overall coursework.

Sigma Tau Delta is an organization devoted to encouraging love of literature and promoting high academic achievement in literary studies.

The honor society was founded in 1924 by Judson Q. Owen of Dakota Wesleyan University. The English honor society is for students dedicated to fostering literacy and all aspects of the discipline of English at four-year colleges and universities. Sigma Tau Delta is the largest honors organization in the field and one of the largest members of the Association of College Honor Societies (ACHS). There are over 870 local chapters in the U.S. and abroad.
