Latoshia Davis Honored with Academic Awards

2015 Apr 20

The University of the Cumberlands (UC) Men and Women's Golf programs are in their final preparations for the upcoming Mid-South Conference (MSC) Championships next week. As the Patriots get their final practices in before beginning tournament play, officials from the MSC announced today their yearly academic awards.

One Patriot male along with five Patriot ladies were awarded Mid-South Conference Academic All-Conference awards on Friday. Twenty-four men along with twenty-three women earned the academic honor this year in the conference. In order to be nominated by an institution, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.25 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved at least sophomore academic status.

The lone Patriot male to receive the award was senior Tyler Morgan (Annville, KY), earning the award for the third straight year as he was honored in 2012-13 as well as 2013-14. The Patriot ladies had five athletes earn the honor, tying for the most given to a women's team this year. Those Patriot ladies earning the honor were sophomores Latoshia Davis (Williamsburg, KY), Candice Lindeque(Boksburg, South Africa), Sadie Martinez (Hartford, CT), Rachel Pingleton (Parksville, KY), and senior Bri-ann Tokariwski (Winnipeg, Canada). Tokariwski earned the honor for her 2nd straight season as Davis, Lindeque, Martinez, and Pingleton earned their 1st award of their careers.

Head Coach Chris Kraftick commented, "We have a tremendous group of student athletes. They do a great job juggling our travel schedule and practice schedule with their academic schedule. We believe in giving them time for their studies and making sure that although we are serious about golf, they can succeed academically and socially."
