UC Bowling Finishes 4th at Green River Classic

2016 Sep 26

The UC Men's Bowling team returned to the lanes this past weekend in Campbellsville to take part in the 2016 Green River Classic. With 11 teams competing in the classic, the Patriots looked to swing some momentum their way after a solid showing at the LMU Railsplitter Baker Kick Off. UC had a solid day one, finishing the day in 5th place but only 20 mins outside of 4th. The Pats would have a nice showing on the 2nd day in which they would move up the rankings, finishing the tournament 4th overall of 11 teams.

The Patriots tallied 4,527 pins on day one to finish the day in 4th place, just 20 pins behind Belmont Abbey College in 4th place. Individually, Cameron Pettyjohn (SO/Lexington, KY) led the way for UC with 1,004 pins to finish in 6th place. Brad Paynter (SR/Carlisle, OH) finished just outside of the top 10 with a 12th place finish with 966 pins. Darion Hite (SR/Hillsborough, NC) earned a 45th place finish with 832 pins while Andy Cora finish 80th overall with 573 pins. Adam Thress (SO/Lancaster, OH) totaled 504 pins for an 83rd place finish while Brandon Cooney (SO/Lancaster, OH) tallied 490 pins for an 85th place mark. Connor Leidtke rounded out the varsity squad in 95th place with 158 pins.

On day two during the Baker rounds, the Patriots added 2,223 pins to their total, jumping up one spot in the standings to finish 4th place overall out of 11 total teams, including MSC competitors Campbellsville University, Lindsey Wilson College, Union College, and Tennessee Wesleyan. Campbellsville was the only MSC team to finish ahead of UC in 2nd place overall.

Patriot Head Coach Kevin Reigle commented, "We had another really great weekend. The men rebounded from last week and had a really solid showing. Next weekend starts conference play and we're very excited for it."

UC returns to action on October 1 as they participate in the Louisville Classic, a Mid-South Conference event. They will follow that up on Sunday October 2 with the Thomas Burris Memorial in Louisville, another MSC sponsored tournament.
