Bloy Named NAIA Wrestler of the Week
The University of the Cumberlands (UC) Men's Wrestling program will hit the mats again on Wednesday night in a doubleheader against Mid-South Conference (MSC) foes Cumberland University and Lindsey Wilson College. Before the matches get underway though, UC had one of its athletes honored as he was named the weekly award winner from the NAIA.

The University of the Cumberlands (UC) Men's Basketball team looked to carry their momentum from Saturday's conference win into Monday night as they hosted NAIA #5 ranked Georgetown College (GC) for a big Mid-South Conference (MSC) matchup. Both teams would show strong points in the game, but the Patriots couldn't rebound from the athletic play from the Tigers, falling to Georgetown 86-73. The loss moves UC to 15-8 on the season and 5-4 in MSC play.

Patriot Ladies Lose Lead Late in Loss to Tigers
The University of the Cumberlands (UC) Women's Basketball team returned to action on Monday for a rare Mid-South Conference (MSC) matchup against the Tigers of Georgetown College (GC). UC would jump out early on the Tigers, holding a 13 point lead at one point in the 1st half. The Tigers were relentless in the 2nd half as UC went cold from the field, giving up the lead late in the 4th in a 44-40 loss to Georgetown. The loss moves UC to 8-10 on the season and 0-7 in MSC play.

The University of the Cumberlands (UC) Men's Wrestling program has hit the mats hard since the beginning of 2016. With only three regular season meets before the NAIA National Championships, the Patriots have been grinding and competing hard. Though the Patriots fell short once last week in one of their duals, one Patriot excelled on the mat through UC's three events and for his efforts was awarded.

The University of the Cumberlands (UC) Men and Women's Bowling teams returned to action as they traveled to Richmond, KY to participate in the second tournament of the weekend, the Bulldog Classic. The Patriots again saw action against some of the top talent of the Mid-South Conference (MSC) and were determined to show their best against rivals from opposing teams.

The University of the Cumberlands (UC) Men and Women's Bowling teams were back in action this past weekend as they had a full schedule of competition. The Patriots first stop was the Thomas Burris Memorial in Lexington, Kentucky, where they would participate against all the other bowling programs in the Mid-South Conference (MSC). This tournament would be a true testament to what UC's programs are made of and to see where they stand against rivals in the MSC.

Patriot Ladies Compete in Dave Schultz Memorial International
Select members of the University of the Cumberlands (UC) Women's Wrestling team traveled to Colorado Springs, Colorado this past weekend to compete in the Dave Schultz Memorial International, an international tournament to honor the memory of Dave Schultz, an American Olympic and world champion wrestler. UC had seven members of their team competing on the weekend, some competing for their respective club teams.

The University of the Cumberlands (UC) Track & Field teams traveled this weekend to the University of Indianapolis to compete in the UIndy Challenge, the first time UC has participated in this event. Both the men and women's teams would compete well at the meet. A number of competitors would set personal bests at the meet while one individual would break an indoor school record.

The Patriots came out strong early and never looked back, earning an 86-48 win over the Mountaineers. With the win, UC moves to 8-9 overall on the season.

The University of the Cumberlands (UC) Men's Wrestling team was back on the mat on Wednesday, January 27th as they hosted Mid-South Conference (MSC) rival St. Catharine College (SCC) for a conference dual. The Patriots started out the match behind 10-0, but made a comeback to battle it out and win 19-17 over SCC.

Patriot Basketball Wins in Non-Conference Action over Carver
The University of the Cumberlands (UC) Men's Basketball team returned to their home floor on Tuesday night in non-conference action as they hosted Carver College (CC). The Patriots would look to avenge an early season loss to the Cougars on their home floor, but it would be a tough task as Carver would hang with the Patriots early. UC would then find their rhythm from the floor as they would pull away for the 74-53 victory, moving their overall record to 14-7 on the season.

The Patriots started out the match with a strong showing, but unfortunately were ultimately defeated by the Tigers by a final score of 20-15.

Patriots Control Game in Upset over #15 Blue Raiders
The University of the Cumberlands (UC) Men's Basketball team looked to continue a strong start to the 2016 calendar year as they hosted the NAIA #15 ranked Blue Raiders of Lindsey Wilson College (LWC). UC had won 3 of their last 5 games against the Blue Raiders and 12 of their last 14 meetings in the O. Wayne Rollins Center. It was much of the same as the Patriots controlled the action, upending the Blue Raiders 71-56, making UC 12-5 overall and 3-1 in Mid-South Conference (MSC) play.

The University of the Cumberlands (UC) Women's Wrestling team was back in action on Friday, January 8th and Saturday, January 9th competing in the NWCA National Duals. The Patriot ladies traveled to Fort Wayne, IN to take part in the event, where they would face a number of top teams from across the country. UC would gather a win on Friday against Wayland Baptist, but would fall to Oklahoma City University and Campbellsville University on Saturday to secure a 4th place finish.

The University of the Cumberlands (UC) Women's Basketball team would host the #18 ranked Phoenix of Cumberland University (CU) on Thursday. The Patriot ladies would control most of the game, but some late struggles from the floor coupled with a late run by the Phoenix would spell demise for the Patriots as they would fall 55-49 to CU. The loss moves UC to 7-5 on the season and 0-2 in Mid-South Conference (MSC) play.

UC's Williams Earns NAIA All-American Honors for Football
Even with the University of the Cumberlands (UC) Football team recently wrapping up their season, the awards continue to come in for the Patriots. Senior wide receiver and kick returner Wendall Williams (Syracuse, NY) was recently acknowledged by the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) as an NAIA 2nd Team All-American Kick Returner. Williams is the 4th Patriot to be selected to the AFCA All-American team from UC. The last Patriot offensive player to earn this honor was running back Terrance Cobb in the 2012 season. Weston Hazelhurst, a linebacker, won the award in 2013.

The University of the Cumberlands (UC) Men's Basketball team is currently riding a 6 game winning streak, improving their record now to 9-3 overall on the season. Last week, the Patriots would run off three more victories including an upset win over NAIA #1 ranked University of Pikeville on Thursday. During UC's three wins this week, one player showed his leadership on the floor and for his efforts was awarded this week by the Mid-South Conference (MSC).

Patriot Women's Wrestling Team Impresses at NAIA Invitational
The University of the Cumberlands (UC) Women's Wrestling team was back in action on Saturday, December 5th as they competed in the NAIA Invitational in Campbellsville, Kentucky. The Patriot ladies came in with a lot of momentum and were looking to finish out their last meet of the fall semester with an impressive showing. The Patriots would have a solid day and would leave the day with five 1st place finishes and multiple placing finishes in their respective weight classes. As a team, UC came away with 3rd place overall in the tournament, just missing out on 2nd place by 1 point by Campbellsville University.

The University of the Cumberlands (UC) Men's Basketball team have been on a solid streak of late with great defensive play and hitting timely shots. The Patriots would continue their 8 game road trip on Saturday in New Albany, Indiana as they took on the Grenadiers of Indiana University-Southeast (IU-SE). UC would trail by 3 entering the 2nd half, but would rebound for a 69-68 victory, extending their winning streak to 3 games. The Patriots now sit at 6-3 overall on the year.

Women's Basketball Falls on the Road to UPike, WV Tech
The University of the Cumberlands (UC) Women's Basketball team began the week with high hopes to return to the win column after a tough 72-58 loss to the Railsplitters of Lincoln Memorial University. UC would have two opportunities to do that as they began a 4 game road stretch with a game at the University of Pikeville (UPike) on Thursday and another at West Virginia Tech (WVT) on Saturday. Unfortunately, UC would not have the luck they needed as they dropped both contests, falling to UPike 84-78 in overtime and 61-59 to WVT. UC's overall record now sits at 6-3 (0-1 Mid-South Conference).

Patriot Wrestling Goes 2-1 in Weekend Duals
The University of the Cumberlands (UC) Men's Wrestling team had a full weekend of competition. The Patriots looked to start off their Mid-South Conference (MSC) schedule with a bang, continuing their hot start to the season. UC would have a jam packed schedule during the weekend, participating in 3 dual meets. The first meet would be Saturday, December 5th against Truett-McConnell. UC was able to cruise to this victory, winning 41-10.

Select Patriots Honored with Soccer Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete Awards
Though the University of the Cumberlands (UC) Men and Women's Soccer seasons are over, the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) continues to hand out their yearly awards. On Friday, the NAIA would announce the 2015 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes. There were a total of 588 women and 382 men who earned this elite honor from the NAIA.

The University of the Cumberlands (UC) Volleyball Patriots are coming off a very successful 2015 season. The Patriots finished the season with a 27-10 record, the most wins since 2004, and a 9-7 Mid-South Conference (MSC) record. Two players have been vital to their success not only on the court, but also off.

The University of the Cumberlands (UC) Men and Women's Swimming & Diving teams just wrapped up their fall schedule with intense competition at the Cleveland State Invitational. The Patriots competed well and saw numerous swimmers qualify for nationals at the meet. Although UC didn't come away with the win, several Patriots swam well, earning national praise from the media.
