UC Students Receive English Department Writing Awards
University of the Cumberlands (UC) awarded and honored three students during the English department's awards ceremony. The students who received awards included: Michael Ferraro (Corbin, Kentucky), Dage Spinning (London, Ohio), and Katelyn Dunne (Chicago, Illinois).

Cumberlands Recognizes Forty-Three Hutton Scholars
On Saturday, May 9th, University of the Cumberlands (UC) recognized 43 undergraduate students who were named Hutton Scholars during the annual commencement ceremony in the O. Wayne Rollins Center. The Hutton Leadership and Community Service Program is a four-phase program providing leadership training and community service opportunities for the UC students.

UC's BCM Serves Beach Reach in Panama City
University of the Cumberlands' (UC) Baptist Campus Ministries (BCM) sent four teams out for their annual spring break mission trips across the east coast. BCM sent 11 people, including UC's campus minister Dean Whitaker, to Panama City Beach, Florida for a week to provide free shuttle rides and free pancake breakfasts to beachgoers.

UC Student Spends Summer as a Missionary in Southern Asia
Over the course of this summer one University of the Cumberlands (UC) student, Lydia Huggins (Erwin, TN), spent over two months serving as a missionary doing media relations work for Face2Face. Spreading the gospel and sharing His love on a global scale will forever remain top priorities to Huggins.

UC's Appalachian Ministries hosts VBS at Corbin Manor
University of the Cumberlands' (UC) Appalachian Ministries (AM) team visited the Corbin Manor Apartments July 14th through the 18th and held Vacation Bible School (VBS) on the complex's property in Corbin. There were nearly 25 kids from the apartments in attendance.

UC's Tanner Williams leads BCM Worship
Williams took a common worship theme, freedom, and made it his own during his discourse. He said what freedom is to a regular person is defined differently from what God's definition of freedom is. He said Jesus allows a person to be set free by Him, but only because that person belongs to Him, in which Williams called a paradox.

UC's Mountain Outreach partners with the Bell-Whitley Repair Affair
The Repair Affair team processed applicants who were in serious need of various types of repairs at local residencies and provided labor and materials to complete the repairs at no cost to the home owners. There were approximately 85 volunteers, 30 of them being UC students and members from First Baptist Church in Williamsburg, Ky. who came out to help with the various projects at hand.

UC Student Has Humbling Experience Serving in Africa
Gine Nichols (Horse Cave, Ky.), University of the Cumberlands' (UC) student and member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Corbin, Ky., spent a week in Nairobi, Kenya ministering to children and young women in the slums this past summer.
