Late Goal Gives Patriots 1-1 Draw Against Midway
The University of the Cumberlands men's soccer team rallied from a goal down in the second half to force a 1-1 draw, in double overtime, against Midway Saturday afternoon at the Midway Soccer Fields. With the tie, the Patriots improve to 2-5-1, while the Eagles move to 2-2-1.

Women's Soccer Near Upset of #8 Redhawks Squandered By Late Goal
The UC Women's Soccer team entered Saturday's contest looking for their first win over a NAIA Top 10 team in over a decade. They would host the eighth-ranked RedHawks of Martin Methodist College (MMC) for a matchup, and the Patriots would give Martin Methodist all they could ask for. A late goal for the RedHawks though would seal a 2-1 victory over the Patriots, moving UC to 7-4 overall on the season.

Women's Tennis Sees Success in Opening Rounds of ITA Regionals
The UC Women's Tennis team opened up play on Thursday in Georgetown, Kentucky as they compete in the 2016 ITA Regional Tournament. The Patriots' Isabella Dale (SR/Invercargill, New Zealand) would be the #1 seed entering the tournament as she won this event in 2015. The duo of Denee Lyttle (FR) and Luka Lyttle (FR) earned the #6 seed in the doubles' competition.

The University of the Cumberlands football team is looking to retain the Brass Lantern this weekend when they travel to Barbourville, KY to face Mid-South Conference rival Union Saturday at 7 p.m. It will be the 32nd meeting between these two schools, with the Patriots leading the all-time series 21-10.

Women's Soccer Squashes Shawnee State in MSC Opener
Williamsburg, KY - The UC women's soccer team relied on a trio of goals in the second half added to a goal in the opening half as the Patriots defeated Shawnee State University (SSU) by a 4-1 margin on Wednesday night in Portsmouth, Ohio. The victory moves UC to 7-3 overall on the season and 1-0 in Mid-South Conference play while the Bears fall to 0-3-2 on the year (0-1 MSC).

Volleyball Patriots Upset on Road at Campbellsville
UC Volleyball went into tonight's matchup with the Tigers of Campbellsville University (CU) looking to stay hot in Mid-South Conference play. The Patriots looked like they were on their way early to the victory, but the Tigers would rally to win the final three sets to defeat UC 3-2 by scores of 30-28, 26-24, 21-25, 24-26, 10-15. UC now moves to 12-5 overall and 4-2 in MSC play.

Women’s Bowling Wins 1st Event in School History at Railsplitter Baker Kickoff; Men Finish 6th
The UC Bowling teams opened their 2016-17 seasons this past weekend as they traveled to Harrogate, Tennessee for the Railsplitter Baker Kickoff hosted by Lincoln Memorial University. At this competition, the teams would compete in 36 Baker games in hopes to qualify for the winner-take-all tournament. The men's team would finish 6th of 10 competing teams while the women's team would win the tournament, marking the first tournament championship won by a UC bowling team in school history.

Archery Earns Numerous Top Finishes in South Regional Intercollegiate 3D Championships
The UC Archery team had a good start to their 2016-2017 season on Saturday in the South Regional Intercollegiate 3D Championships. There were seven programs represented including UC, EKU, Madisonville, Union, Bethel, Midway, and Campbellsville University. This tournament consisted of 6 divisions, all with individual shooters only, including Men's Compound, Women's Compound, Men's Bowhunter, Women's Bowhunter, Women's Olympic Recurve, and Basic Bow.

The UC Volleyball team was back in action on Friday, September 16th as they traveled to Pikeville, Kentucky to take on the Bears of the University of Pikeville (UPike). After an impressive victory on Tuesday against Asbury University, the Patriots were hoping to bring that momentum into a Mid-South Conference (MSC) matchup. UC was able to do just that, taking the match in straight sets from the Bears 3-0 by scores of 30-28, 25-16, 25-15. The win moves their record to 11-4 overall and 3-1 in MSC

UC Volleyball continued their weekend road trip on Saturday as they headed to Portsmouth Ohio to take on the Bears of Shawnee State University (SSU). The Patriots were looking to finish the week strong after taking a 3-0 victory over Pikeville the night before. UC showed poise and determination with another 3-0 victory over the Bears with scores of 25-19, 25-15, 25-13. This puts the Patriots at 12-4 overall and 4-1 conference.

The UC Cross Country teams were in action this past weekend in Cedarville, Ohio as they competed in the Cedarville University Invitational. Both teams would have strong individual finishes and do well as a team in the NCAA D-I and NCAA D-II laiden field. The men's team would finish 5th of 10 teams while the women finished 8th of 10 teams.

Patriots Pressured in Loss at Tennessee Wesleyan
The UC Men's Soccer team traveled to Athens, Tennessee on Saturday to take on the Tennessee Wesleyan University (TWU) Bulldogs. The Patriots came in to the game looking to turn things around after a heartbreaking loss in overtime their previous game vs. Milligan. Unfortunately, that would not be the case as the Bulldogs would find the net four times late in the 2nd half to defeat the Patriots 4-0. The loss moves UC to 1-5 overall on the season.

The Patriots Women's Soccer team would host a home matchup on Saturday against the Golden Bears of West Virginia Tech (WVT). UC looked to extend their winning ways as they have won five of their last six contests. After an early goal by WVT, it was UC who would rally to take a 2-1 victory in overtime over the Golden Bears. The UC Men's Golf team took to their home course at Crooked Creek Golf Course in London, Kentucky as they hosted the Annual Bill Sergent Invitational. The UC Volleyball Patriots took to the court on Tuesday, September 14th as they hosted the non-conference opposition of the Eagles of Asbury University (AU). The Patriots were looking to bounce back from a 3-0 loss in their last game against Bryan College and did just that, sweeping the match with a 3-0 win by scores of 25-19, 25-19, 25-22. With the victory, the Patriots move to 10-4 overall on the season.

UC Football returned to action on Saturday night two hours later than originally scheduled due to numerous delays to take on the Eagles of Cincinnati Christian University (CCU). The Eagles opened up MSC East Division play for the Patriots and UC would jump ahead early, never looking back as they took down the Eagles 42-7. The win moves the Patriots to 2-1 overall on the season and 1-0 in MSC East play.

It looked as if the game would be heading to overtime, but a late goal from the Lions would snap UC's win streak as the Patriots would fall 1-0. The loss moves UC to 4-3 overall on the season.

Patriot Soccer Falls in OT on Penalty Kick to Milligan
The UC Men's Soccer team finally got to take the field on their home pitch Friday night as they would host Milligan College (MC). The Patriots would show an aggressive style of play against the Buffaloes as both teams would fight for possession much of the night. It would take overtime to finish the contest, but it was a late foul in the box that spelled the demise for UC as Milligan would come away with a 1-0 victory off a penalty kick. UC now sits a 1-4 overall on the season.

Men's Golf Finishes 6th at SCAD-Atlanta Fall Invitational
The UC Men's Golf Team opened their fall season on Tuesday and Wednesday this week as they traveled to Covington, Georgia to participate in the SCAD-Atlanta Fall Invitational. The Patriots went into the tournament with many new faces in the lineup from last season, but would look to make a mark. UC would finish the tournament in sixth place out of seven competing schools.
