Patriot Track and Field Athletes Recognized for Academic Excellence

The University of the Cumberlands (UC) Track and Field programs continue to show their superior athleticism as they competed this past weekend in the Mid-South Conference (MSC) Championships. While numerous athletes earned top finishes, it was six Patriot ladies along with four Patriot men that were honored before the meet began for their excellence in the classroom.

The University of the Cumberlands (UC) Tennis teams has departed on their journey as they will participate in the Mid-South Conference (MSC) Championship tournament in Bowling Green, Kentucky. With the Patriots looking to make a splash in the tournament, some of those athletes already made a big impact on their team in the classroom and on the courts and for their efforts were awarded by the MSC.

The University of the Cumberlands (UC) Softball team is now in Bowling Green, Kentucky as they start their journey in the Mid-South Conference (MSC) Tournament. While many of the players for UC did well during the season, it was three Patriot ladies that would garner honors from the MSC.

UC's Dan Fraser (Cooma, Australia) and Isabella Dale (Invercargill, New Zealand) are the Mid-South Conference Men and Women's Tennis Players of the Week, conference officials announced on Tuesday. The weekly conference honor is the first of the season for both Fraser and Dale.

Golfing Patriots Awarded with Academic Honors

One Patriot male along with five Patriot ladies were awarded Mid-South Conference Academic All-Conference awards on Friday. Twenty-four men along with twenty-three women earned the academic honor this year in the conference. In order to be nominated by an institution, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.25 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved at least sophomore academic status.

UC's Wendall Williams is the Mid-South Conference Men's Track Athlete of the Week, conference officials announced on Tuesday. The weekly honor is the 3rd straight track honor for Williams and 4th straight of the season as he also won the field honor on April 7th.

University of the Cumberlands named students to the High Honor Roll during the 56th annual Honors Day program. These students have attained a minimum of 3.85 cumulative standing. Since UC only offers one undergraduate commencement ceremony, this list includes those students who finished their degree in December as well as those who will graduate in the May event.
