Patriots Compete in Royals XC Challenge
The University of the Cumberlands (UC) Cross Country teams were back in action on Friday, October 9th in the Royals XC Challenge in Charlotte, North Carolina. This would be another great test for the Patriots as they would run against some of the NAIA's best including three Mid-South Conference (MSC) teams. For both teams, it would be a great opportunity to improve as not only individuals, but as a team.

UC Swimming Comes up Short Against Eagles of Carson-Newman
The University of the Cumberlands (UC) Men and Women's Swimming teams opened up their 2015-2016 season on Saturday by hosting the Eagles of Carson Newman University, a NCAA Division II foe. The Patriots fought hard but were unable to bring home the victory with the women's score being 174.5 - 87.5 while the men were also defeated with a score of 180-71.

Patriot Football Falls at #1 Lindsey Wilson
The University of the Cumberlands (UC) Football team looked to extend their continued success this season on Saturday, but it would be a daunting task as they traveled to take on the NAIA #1 ranked Blue Raiders of Lindsey Wilson College (LWC). The Patriots would fight hard early, trailing just 14-13 at the half, but the 2nd half was dominated by big plays by the Blue Raiders as they would take the win 41-19 over UC. The loss moves the Patriots to 4-2 overall on the season.

Patriot Bowling Squads Hold Top 5 Spots in MSC Standings
The University of the Cumberlands (UC) Men and Women's Bowling teams are both off to a spectacular start to their seasons. Both teams just completed their second regular season tournament, the Southern Kentucky Classic, and earned top 5 finishes. The Mid-South Conference (MSC) has posted season standings thus far and both Patriot programs are towards the top of the pack.

Patriot Volleyball Struggles in Loss against St. Catharine
The University of the Cumberlands (UC) Volleyball team held their Inaugural "Rally 4 Special Education" game on Tuesday, October 6th as they hosted Mid-South Conference (MSC) opponent St. Catharine College (SCC). The event was great success as the Patriots were able to raise over $1,100 for the Special Education program at the Williamsburg Independent School District. For the Patriots though, the results on the court would not be as rewarding.

UC's Williams Earns NAIA Player of the Week Award
The University of the Cumberlands (UC) Football program has had many bright spots throughout their 4-1 season thus far. Numerous big plays and solid victories have been great highlights during the 2015 season, but one player continues to earn attention throughout the Mid-South Conference. Now, he is also drawing the attention of the NAIA as he was awarded a national weekly award on Monday.

Archery Claims USIAC 3D National Championship
The University of the Cumberlands (UC) Archery team competed this past weekend in the United States Intercollegiate (USIAC) 3D Championships. The team did a great job shooting against the 11 other teams from around the country. This tournament consisted of a Bowhunter, Compound, and Recurve division. Each division held Men's and Women's individuals as well as team rounds. After all shooting was complete, the Patriots were awarded numerous top finishes including the overall USIAC 3D National Championship.

Volleyball Patriots Ink 1st Signee for 2016 Season
The University of the Cumberlands (UC) Volleyball team is having a very successful season as they are currently 16-4 overall and 5-3 in Mid-South Conference (MSC) play. Head Coach Kathryn Hart has been working hard not only on the court with the ladies, but is already working on next year's recruiting class. She has done just that with the signing of Mackenzie Koch.

Patriot Bowling Competes in Southern Kentucky Classic
The University of the Cumberlands (UC) Men and Women's Bowling teams took to the lanes this past weekend in Bowling Green, Kentucky at the Southern Kentucky Classic. The teams would compete in 5 team rounds and 12 Baker games. After the two day tournament, the men's team finished 5th out of 20 teams and the women's team finished 5th out of 16 teams.

The University of the Cumberlands (UC) Women's Soccer team is making great strides in the 1st half of the regular season under new Head Coach Steve Hamilton. His ladies have done extremely well in their first 9 games of the season, posting an overall record of 5-1-3. This past week, one Patriot did exceptionally well in UC's contest and for her efforts was awarded by the Mid-South Conference (MSC).

The University of the Cumberlands (UC) Football team enters the week 4-1 on the year after a 59-7 torching of Bethel University on Saturday. The Patriots now turn their attention to NAIA #1 ranked Lindsey Wilson College this coming Saturday. Although all eyes are now focused on the Blue Raiders, one Patriot is being recognized for his efforts last week by the Mid-South Conference (MSC).

Cross Country Pats Compete in Greater Louisville Classic
The University of the Cumberlands (UC) Cross Country teams traveled to Tom Sawyer Park in Louisville, Kentucky to compete in the Greater Louisville Classic on Saturday, October 3rd. This would be the third event for the men, who have been impressive so far this season racing at personal best times. For the women, this would be their second meet as a team. With a course that was wet and sloppy due to the rain in the Louisville area this week, the Patriots ran extremely well.

Patriot Soccer Upends Tigers in Overtime
The University of the Cumberlands (UC) Men's Soccer team would take to the road on Saturday as they traveled for a home game to Georgetown College to face the Tigers. After battling back in the 2nd half, it would take extra time, but the Patriots would prevail over the Tigers 3-2 in overtime. The win would bring UC's overall record to 7-4-1 on the year (1-2 MSC).

The University of the Cumberlands (UC) Patriot Women's Soccer team traveled north on Saturday to take on the Georgetown College Tigers in what was considered a home contest for the Patriots. After a long fight on the pitch including two overtime periods, the Patriot ladies would earn the draw against Georgetown by a score of 0-0, bringing their overall record to 5-1-3 on the season (0-1-2 MSC).

The University of the Cumberlands (UC) Men's Golf team would make the trip north to Portsmouth, Ohio this week to participate in the Mid-South Conference (MSC) Fall Invitational. UC would struggle during the opening round, but would rally back in the final round to finish the tournament just 2 shots out of 1st place behind eventual winner Cumberland University.

The University of the Cumberlands (UC) Women's Golf team would travel to Portsmouth, Ohio looking to get back to their winning ways in the Mid-South Conference (MSC) Fall Invitational. After a solid opening round by the Patriots, UC would hold steady in the 2nd round to win the tournament by 14 strokes over MSC adversary Campbellsville University for their 2nd tournament victory of the season.

Patriot Volleyball Comes Up Short against Bulldogs
The University of the Cumberlands (UC) Volleyball team came into its game on Thursday, October 1 against Cumberland University looking to avenge a loss they suffered earlier in the year to the Bulldogs. Coming off of an impressive straight set victory against Union College on Tuesday night, the Patriots looked to have momentum coming into the contest. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case as UC fell to the Bulldogs 3-1 by scores of 21-25, 25-23, 21-25, 21-25.

Patriot Soccer Beaten by Blue Raiders
The University of the Cumberlands (UC) traveled to Columbia, KY on Thursday to finally play their weather-delayed game against the Lindsey Wilson College (LWC) Blue Raiders. The first half was a great display of defense on both teams as they went into the half with a tied score of 0-0. However, the Blue Raiders found their footing in the second half and scored 3 straight goals while leaving the Patriots scoreless. The final score remained in Lindsey Wilson's favor 3-0, bringing the Patriots' overall record to 6-4-1 on the season and 0-2 in Mid-South Conference (MSC) play.

Patriot Football Pounds Wildcats in 59-7 Route
The University of the Cumberlands (UC) Football program looked for their first 3 game winning streak under Head Coach Matt Rhymer on Saturday as they hosted the Bethel University Wildcats. It was UC's game from the start as the Patriots would hang 16 points on the Wildcats in the first 90 seconds of the game and would never look back. UC would come away with a 59-7 victory over Bethel, moving UC to 4-1 overall on the season.

Volleyball Patriots Beat Bulldogs for Third Time This Season
The University of the Cumberlands (UC) Volleyball Patriots took to the court on Tuesday, September 29th as they hosted non-conference rival Union College. The Patriots came into the match looking to get back to their winning ways after losing to Georgetown in their last match. UC was also hoping to beat the Bulldogs for a nearly unprecedented third time on the season. In this match, it was all UC coming away with a straight set victory over the Bulldogs.

Patriot Bowling Opens Season at Green River Classic
The University of the Cumberlands (UC) Men and Women's Bowling teams opened their 2015-16 season this past weekend as they traveled to Campbellsville, KY for the 2015 Green River Classic. At this competition, the teams would compete by bowling 5 team rounds and 12 Baker games. With the Mid-South Conference (MSC) expanding this year, most of the teams that competed were members of the conference. The men's team would finish 4th of 13 competing teams while the women's team placed 5th of 12 teams.

Beck Wins 2nd Straight Weekly Conference Award
The University of the Cumberlands (UC) Volleyball is coming off of a tough week of play. The Patriots were able to pull out a win against Shawnee State earlier in the week, but came up short against the 17th ranked Georgetown Tigers. One Patriot continues to be a huge asset in the Patriots being 15-3 overall this season and receiving votes in the NAIA poll. For the second straight week, the Mid-South Conference (MSC) took notice.

The University of the Cumberlands (UC) Football team took care of business on Saturday night, defeating Union College in the Battle for the Brass Lantern by a score of 42-29. The Patriots would trail 10-7 at the half, but would show their resiliency throughout the 2nd half as numerous players would step up to the challenge. One Patriot would make a breakthrough on special teams and for his efforts was awarded by the Mid-South Conference (MSC).

Brass Lantern Returns to Williamsburg with 42-29 Win over Union
The University of the Cumberlands (UC) Patriot football program would hit the field on Saturday under the lights at James H. Taylor, II Stadium to take on Union College in the yearly "Battle for the Brass Lantern." It was a war from the first snap, but it was the Patriots coming away at the end of the game with the victory 42-29, bringing the Brass Lantern trophy back to Williamsburg.

The University of the Cumberlands (UC) Women's Soccer team hosted Hiwassee College on Friday and Rio Grande University on Saturday. The Patriots shut down the Tigers of Hiwassee with a final score of 9-0 in the Patriots favor. The ladies continued their streak as they defeated the Red Storm of Rio Grande University 2-1 on Saturday. These victories bring the Patriots to a record of 5-1-2.

The Tigers attempted to fight back with numerous saves, but were no match for UC as the Patriots put up 5 more in the second half for a 16-0 final score. The win brings the Patriots' overall record to 6-3-1 on the season.

Patriot Golf Finishes 6th at Deer Park Classic
The University of the Cumberlands (UC) Men's Golf program had a bit of a struggle this week as they competed in the Deer Park Classic in Oglesby, Illinois. The Patriots came into this tournament with a victory under their belt at the Bill Sergent Invitational, their home tournament for the fall. They battled hard to keep the victory streak going, but were unable to do so as they finished 6th out of 17 teams.

Beck Earns MSC Weekly Volleyball Honors
The University of the Cumberlands (UC) Volleyball team has been very successful since the beginning of the season. The Patriots were able to go 2-0 on the week including a win over Mid-South Conference (MSC) opponent University of Pikeville, as well as non-conference foe Asbury University, moving the team to 14-2 overall this season and 4-1 in MSC play. One Patriot stood out above the rest this past week having great performances in both contests and for her efforts was recognized Monday by the MSC as the conference Defender of the Week.

Patriot Football Duo Wins Weekly Conference Honors
The University of the Cumberlands (UC) Football team came away with a big win under the lights for the 1st time in school history on Saturday winning 49-41 over the Bulldogs of Cumberland University. There were standout performances all over the field for the Patriots, but two young men were catalysts in the UC victory and were honored by the Mid-South Conference (MSC) for their efforts.
